Michael Pappas, a second-year dental student, has been chosen by the ASDA Board of Trustees as the recipient of the Ryan Turner Memorial Scholarship. Along with the $1,000 scholarship Pappas will be awarded, The Ohio State University College of Dentistry ASDA chapter will receive $500 from ASDA's national chapter.

The scholarship is given in memory of Ryan Turner, a fourth-year dental student at the University of Michigan, who was 27 years old when he passed away suddenly in January 2007. It honors those who have demonstrated the same qualities and characteristics Turner exhibited through his service to ASDA.

The 2012 scholarship will be awarded at the ASDA Annual Session, Feb. 29 - March 4 in Minneapolis.

“Receiving the Ryan Turner Memorial Scholarship is a huge honor,” Pappas said. “Ryan, who passed away in 2007, was very involved in ASDA's operations throughout the entire country, and it is my intent to honor him by doing the same over the next two years to further the dental profession.”

The 2012 scholarship will be awarded at the ASDA Annual Session, Feb. 29 - March 4 in Minneapolis.

The American Student Dental Association is a national student-run organization that protects and advances the welfare, rights, and interests of dental students.
